Meeting between Mayor Stefano and the Chinese architect
CASARANO. From China to Casarano in the name of city planning. The event took place on Wednesday morning, at Palazzo di Città, where Mayor Gianni Stefano met with the pluri-awarded Chinese architect David Cao Wei and Shi Hongbo, President of the AssociazioneInterscambioCulturale Italo-Cinese del Salento (The Italy – China Cultural Exchange Association of Salento), based in Lecce. Architect Cao Wei has been in the spotlight for his quality of life-oriented work of city planning. He has devoted the past few years of his career as an international architect to build up and reinforce a newer and more conscious idea of urban planning.
A big role in this project has been played by Italy, where Cao Wei is bringing into being an innovative network, based on culture, design and a growing awareness of the importance of quality of life in the city. The network incorporates different Italian cities, let alone the capital Rome. The meeting laid the groundwork for future cooperative relations in the fields of sustainable architecture. «It was an interesting meeting – Mayor Stefano commented – and I have had the chance of being introduced to the significant progresses made in this field. Mr. Cao Wei and Shi Hongbo expertly illustrated not only what they were able to come up with until now, but also what they have been planning. But Italians are eager to take an even more active part. It wouldn’t have been possible without Mr. Alessandro Astore, who helped us through the communication process and also happens to be a huge supporter of the partnership».
